Joint Russian-Ukrainian seminar “Formation of Global Geoinformatic area for solution of interdisciplinary tasks in sphere of Earth Sciences” took place at NTUU “KPI” on 19th-20th of December. Representatives of scientific and research organizations like Russian Academy of Sciences, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, World Data Center for Geoinformatics and Sustainable Development and NTUU “KPI” participated in the seminar.
Scientists discussed urgent issues of Russian and Ukrainian research structures collaboration in sphere of development and agreement of joint approaches to processing and usage of data of different nature in the infrastructures of interdisciplinary data bases of Russian-Ukrainian segment of World Data System for solution of interdisciplinary tasks in particular in problematic of sustainable development provision.
Seminar was hosted by NTUU “KPI” not accidentally: World Data Center for Geoinformatics and Sustainable Development (WDC-Ukraine) was created as Ukrainian branch of World Data Centers for Solar-Terrestrial Physics and Physics of Solid Earth of Geophysical center of Russian Academy of Sciences. Today Center is a part of World Data System of International Council for Science and a part of Russian-Ukrainian cluster of World Data Centers. It works within the structure of National Technical University of Ukraine “Kyiv Polytechnic Institute”. As previously mentioned by rector of NTUU “KPI”, academician of NAS of Ukraine Michael Zgurovsky, annual December meetings of Russian and Ukrainian colleagues already became traditional. Results of work for the whole year are discussed during such meetings, plans of collaboration for the next period are made and the topic of current interest for both countries for joint projects is defined. Seminar was held in the form of round tables and video conference with Geophysical Center of Russian Academy of Sciences participated by its director, academician of RAS - Oleksiy Gvishiani. National academy of sciences of Ukraine along with M. Zgurovsky was represented by heads of WDC-Ukraine partner organizations: director of Institute of Geography of NAS of Ukraine, academician L. Rudenko, director of Scientific Center of Aerospace Researches of Earth, Institute of Geological Sciences of NAS of Ukraine, academician of NAS of Ukraine - V.I. Lialko and director of Institute of Geophysics of NAS of Ukraine, academician of NAS of Ukraine V. Starostenko.
In the context of results discussion of international seminar - IIASA «Prospects of coordinated development in the Eurasian socio-economic space» (Workshop, IIASA, 17 November, 2012) participants of the seminar paid great attention to the joint project “Development of Methodic of Integral Assessment of Social and Economic Development of the Territories of Russia and Ukraine Based on Spatial Data of Multifunctional Intelligent Geoinformatic Systems of Both Countries”. Successful realization of such project provides storage and processing with the help of the proper mathematical tools and usage of big data blocks for solution of tasks and provision of sustainable development of the whole regions of both countries. Taking into account that the concept of sustainable development is based on system coordination of human activity in three spheres – economic, ecological and social, results of such researches and development prognosis based on it are very important for state management decision-making.
