Tonight, at 23.30 on May 26, a team from Igor Sikorsky Polytechnic Institute established connection and began setting up individual subsystems NANOSATELLITE PolyITAN-2. He came to his own orbit of the International Space Station (ISS), where he was sent from Cape Canaveral, Florida, USA, delivered missile ATLAS-5.
The spacecraft has been created within the international space project QB50 under coordination Von Karman Institute for fluid dynamics (Belgium). The main objective of the project - the study of climate change. It started in the framework of the European Commission FP7 in 2012.
This is the second NANOSATELLITE created by a team of Igor Sikorsky Polytechnic Institute for this project. In 2014, it was created and launched into orbit NANOSATELLITE PolyITAN-1. The third year the spacecraft continues to operate successfully in Earth orbit and regularly sends data to the flight control center KPI. The information is important for future international projects.
This innovative project was made possible by the support of Boeing investment and venture fund of Academician V.S. Mikhalevich and Konstiantyn Kalinin.
