On May 17, 2010 Joint meeting of Science and Education Committee of Verkhovna Rada and Informatization advisory council attached to Verkhovna Rada took place.
 

Questions concerning a condition of sustainable development concept in Ukraine and building of informational society were considered during the conference, also the participants listened the report of a draft-law - “Basic elements of sustainable development in Ukraine”.
 

It was decided to hold parliamentary hearings in autumn 2010 on subject of “Problems of informational society building in Ukraine in the context of securing sustainable development”.
 

A working group was created to prepare and generalize recommendations, informational and analytical materials before the hearings. Taking into account that it is the question of high significance, working group was recommended to finish the work on draft law – “Basic elements of sustainable development in Ukraine” according to the results of extensive discussion.
 

As participants of the meeting consider themselves these elements are conceptual basis of integral system of tasks concerning sustainable development of Ukraine under the terms that foresee economic development, environmental protection, effective usage of natural resources, achieving of prosperity and equity in society, stabilization of population, education and international cooperation.
 

Scientific advisor of World Data Center for Geoinformatics and Sustainable development, rector of NTUU “KPI”, academician of NAS of Ukraine M. Zgurovsky made a speech on the meeting on the subject of WDC activity and represented a report about sustainable development in 2009, that is annually prepared by WDC and Institute of Applied System Analysis of NAS of Ukraine and MES of Ukraine.
